Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Role Overview:
The Deputy CEO is a central Executive leadership role, working closely with the CEO and Executive team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide high-level support and advice, represent New Horizons in the CEO’s absence, and implement organisational objectives, policies and strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and contribute to organisational culture and values.
  • Provide strategic advice and reports to the CEO and the Board.
  • Deputise for the CEO and support day-to-day management and at Board meetings.
  • Lead high-level stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide leadership to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Foster a cohesive team and positive work environment.
  • Support Board and committee work.
  • Implement strategic planning, policy development, and organisational change.
  • Develop and audit policies and procedures.
  • Ensure legal and statutory compliance.
  • Offer specialist advice for high-quality program delivery.
  • Build relationships across the sector and government.
  • Oversee financial planning and management.
  •  Drive business efficiency and continuous improvement.

About You

 

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive industry experience.
  • Strong cross-functional background with diverse business experience.
  • High-level executive competence and ability to manage organisational complexity.
  • Strong financial and business experience, including budgeting and financial operations.
  • Proactive, supportive, and inclusive leadership style.
  • Advanced competency in working with people with disabilities and/or mental illness.
  • Passion for supporting human rights.
  • Advanced understanding of risk management and compliance.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and resilience under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  •  Expert knowledge of business processes, including budgeting and financial reporting.
